Rest Your Eyes

We’re walking in the woods

A labyrinth of green and brown branches

Built up so close as fairy stairs to heaven

Our thoughts were somewhere strangled between the leaves

And they would meet under a big wise oak

He said, don’t be scared,

Don’t push too hard on the things in your mind

Leave them here and consider a new life

So we thought that he would probably be right

We packed our bags and took the first flight.

We need to rest our eyes

And hold on to this moment

When we know it’s not hard not all lost or depraved

So we flew away with the eagles in the night

And left our old life, to be vanished in the hive

Staring at a school bus while the stars reflect in the water

And see the kids being brainwashed

By teachers of law and order

They need to rest their eyes

And hold on to this moment

When they know it’s not hard not all lost or depraved

Rest your eyes and hold on to this moment.
